The Senegalese government plans training and employment support for the 6,000 young volunteers mobilised for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Ministries must also oversee emergency management and preserve the Games’ records, according to guidelines discussed by the Council of Ministers and reported by Pressafrik.

The legacy strategy for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games includes training and employment support for 6,000 young volunteers, according to Senego, citing guidelines discussed at a Council of Ministers meeting chaired by Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

The Senegalese government has also called for direct oversight of organisation alongside the Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (COJOJ), and for a monitoring system throughout the competition. Cleanliness, health services, emergency response, transport, and the reception and accommodation of delegations are among the priorities identified.

This direction builds on operational preparations for the 6,000 volunteers who collected their equipment, announced on 21 October. It follows Ndiaye’s call to create jobs for trained young people, published on 26 October.
