Cyber incidents caused more than 209.7 million cedis in losses in Ghana between January and September 2026, according to the Ghanaian Cyber Security Authority. Its director general, Divine Selase Agbeti, also announced a regional office in Tamale to support incident prevention and reporting in the country’s north.

Cyber incidents reported in Ghana caused losses of more than 209.7 million cedis between January and September 2026, Divine Selase Agbeti, director general of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), Ghana’s cybersecurity authority, announced, according to 3News. The CSA recorded 4,938 incidents during that period, compared with 4,604 for the whole of 2025, when losses exceeded 22.5 million cedis.

Online fraud accounted for 48% of reported cases, compared with 47% in 2025. Online blackmail rose from 17% to 20% of incidents, while cyberbullying more than doubled its share, from 9% to 19%, according to figures presented by the CSA.

Divine Selase Agbeti attributed 60% to 95% of incidents to human error and social engineering, which involves manipulating victims to obtain money or information. The CSA plans to open a regional office in Tamale to raise public awareness, receive reports and coordinate responses in the north of the country.
