Congo’s National Council of the Order of Pharmacists is challenging the authorisation granted to Propharma to sell pharmaceutical products wholesale. Its president, Jagger Mpanzo, accuses the Health Ministry of ignoring the Order’s unfavourable opinion and threatens legal action, according to a statement made in Brazzaville and reported by Vox.
The National Council of the Order of Pharmacists of Congo is challenging the authorisation granted to Propharma to sell pharmaceutical products wholesale. Its president, Jagger Mpanzo, denounced a procedure in Brazzaville on 27 October which, according to him, did not comply with the legislation governing the profession, reports Vox.
Mpanzo says the Ministry of Health and Population authorised the company despite the reasoned unfavourable opinion issued by the Order. The council is asking the authorities to verify the legality of the authorisation and draw the legal consequences, believing that failure to comply with the rules could harm citizens’ health.
The Order says it contacted the General Health Inspectorate and the ministry between 30 March and 1 July 2026, without receiving a response it considered satisfactory. Jagger Mpanzo raised the possibility of taking the matter to court to challenge the authorisation, while reaffirming the institution’s willingness to engage in dialogue with the ministry.
