Cameroon is nearing removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s grey list, where it has been since June 2023 over shortcomings in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. Delegate Finance Minister Yaouba Abdoulaye described the step as a national priority at a meeting in Yaoundé, according to The Post Cameroon.
Cameroon has reduced from 13 to five the number of measures still to be implemented to leave the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, after eight additional actions were approved. Yaouba Abdoulaye, minister delegate to the Ministry of Finance, announced the progress on 22 October in Yaoundé, during a session of the National Committee for the Fight against Money Laundering, according to The Post.
The authorities now assess implementation at nearly 80% of the 24 actions agreed with the FATF, compared with 46% in February 2026. The progress was presented in the seventh and eighth progress reports submitted by Cameroon, the latest in September in Abidjan, and then examined by FATF experts, The Post reports.
Cameroon has been on the grey list since 23 June 2023. In October 2025, the FATF had deemed the progress insufficient to justify its removal. Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze had warned in February 2026 that the full implementation of the 24 measures was necessary to secure its exit.
