Cape Verde’s General Inspectorate of Economic Activities (IGAE) closed bars and seized sound equipment during operations carried out over the weekend, according to a statement from the agency. The inspections, conducted with the municipal police and the National Police, followed recurring complaints about noise nuisance and failure to observe opening hours.
Officers also identified minors consuming alcohol. The IGAE called on establishments to comply with the rules in force and parents to provide better guidance to young people to prevent alcohol consumption.
The operation follows the suspension of two establishments in São Vicente over health violations, announced on 12 October in health inspections in São Vicente.
