He wants to represent his constituents' concerns and promote laws supporting the country's development, according to Radio Tamazuj.

Former Western Equatoria State governor Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro wants to secure the nomination of the SPLM, the ruling party in South Sudan, to contest the seat for Tambura Constituency No. 8 in the National Legislative Assembly. Having arrived in Yambio to take part in the party primaries, he told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that he would defend the needs of his constituents if he won the primary and then the election.

Bakasoro, who has previously served as governor and national minister, described the candidacy as a further step in his political career. He said he did not want to return to the position of governor and would accept the result of the primary if he lost, according to Radio Tamazuj.

The former governor also said that the security situation in Western Equatoria State remained generally stable, despite difficulties in Nagero County and Bou, near the border with Western Bahr el Ghazal State. He said a regional force had been deployed in these areas to monitor the situation, according to Radio Tamazuj.
