Arrested in Mauritania and handed over to Senegalese authorities, he says he sprayed the victim with a corrosive substance, according to Le Soleil citing Libération.

Alioune Badara Gaye, suspect in the acid attack on Astou Pierre Ndiaye, told investigators that he bought the corrosive substance in Mbeubeuss for 700 CFA francs before going to Le Foungou restaurant, according to information reported by the daily Libération. He says he left his home on a scooter driven by Mame Waly Niang, then entered the establishment alone, where the victim was.

According to his statement as reported by Libération, Alioune Badara Gaye says he took out a bottle of acid and poured it over Astou Pierre Ndiaye after an argument the previous day. He says he regrets his action, while the investigation also refers to telephone threats he allegedly continued to make against the victim during her hospitalisation at Fann University Hospital.

Arrested in Mauritania and handed over to Senegalese authorities, Alioune Badara Gaye was questioned by investigators at the Dieuppeul police station before being referred to the Dakar prosecutor’s office for murder and acts of barbarity.
