Anambra governor’s wife denies son made Peter Obi video

Nonye Soludo says her son Ozonna did not make a viral video apparently showing him supporting Peter Obi, a candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress. The Anambra State government called it fake and disinformation, while the first lady’s spokesperson warned that those circulating it could face prosecution, according to the Daily Post and Punch.

The viral video shows Ozonna Soludo dancing to music promoting Peter Obi, with the logo and photograph of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, according to the Daily Post and Punch. The Anambra State government described it as fake and disinformation, while Nonye Soludo, the wife of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, said the footage did not originate with her son, the Daily Post reports.

In a statement conveyed by Daniel Ezeigwe, the first lady’s media aide, she said she was monitoring the circulation of the video and named Kelechi Simon, described as a medical radiographer living in Delta State, as someone linked to its creation and circulation, according to Punch and the Daily Post. She warned that those spreading the footage could face prosecution for disinformation and defamation.

Nonye Soludo recalled that everyone could campaign for the candidate of their choice and take part in political debate, but not fabricate or spread false information, according to the Daily Post and Punch.
