American Airlines has stopped displaying the name “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” on its screens and now uses “West Palm Beach”. The change follows the local authorities’ renaming of the airport, according to specialist outlet American Airlines.

American Airlines no longer displays the name “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” on its screens in West Palm Beach, instead using “West Palm Beach”. The change took place on Wednesday, according to Seneweb.

A few months earlier, local authorities had renamed the airport after Donald Trump and changed its code to “DJT”, before American Airlines’ screens displayed “Pres DJT, W Palm Beach”. The airline has provided no explanation for the change, according to Seneweb.

The removal comes after the Republicans’ defeat in the midterm elections, which strengthened the Democrats’ position in Congress. Donald Trump regularly stays at Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach residence near the airport.

The same climate affects the project for a triumphal arch honouring Donald Trump in Washington, which was suspended by a federal judge overnight from Thursday to Friday. More than a hundred elected officials, veterans and architects opposed the project, which would obstruct the view between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery, according to Seneweb.

The removal of Trump’s name from American Airlines’ screens comes after Trump’s defeat, announced on 5 November, and the Republicans’ search for a new direction discussed on 6 November.
