Traditional chiefs and members of African royal families arrived at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda on 27 October ahead of the fourth anniversary of the coronation of Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot III, king of the Iteso. The celebrations are scheduled for 29 to 31 October at Achunet Stadium in Malaba, in Kenya’s Busia County, according to the Daily Monitor.
Those arriving included Nkozi Molefe Phallarg, supreme chief of South Africa’s Khoisan community representing the Basotho community, and Prince Kwazi Zulu, younger brother of Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini. Prince Thulani Zulu said the gathering should help African communities reconnect with their roots and strengthen their ties, while Queen Cynthia Nzilikazi Khumalo called on royal families to maintain their relationships despite the borders inherited from the colonial period.
The organisers said Kenyan President William Ruto and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni had confirmed their attendance. King Mswati III of Eswatini, Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and the king of Zimbabwe’s Ndebele kingdom are also expected, according to the Daily Monitor.
