In Tanzania, videos show pupils who have completed their secondary school examinations tearing up and burning their exercise books and uniforms, while some make controversial remarks. Education figures see this as a sign of shortcomings in support for young people, Mwananchi reports.

Videos shared on social media show Tanzanian pupils in their fourth year of secondary school tearing up and burning their exercise books and uniforms after completing their exams, the daily Mwananchi reports. Some pupils also make controversial remarks: girls talk about marrying men who are already married, while boys say they want to devote themselves to gambling.

Education and youth support figures interpret this behaviour as a sign that pupils are not receiving adequate guidance. The newspaper reported the scenes in its edition of Tuesday 27 October 2026.
