The Women’s League of the Alliance of Democratic Forces of Congo and Allies condemned the use of weapons at a meeting with André Mbata, a leader of the Sacred Union of the Nation, in Kinshasa. On 30 October, its president Claudine Ndusi M’Kembe called for democratic and social channels to be prioritised to pacify the country, according to Beto.

The Women’s League of the Alliance of Democratic Forces of Congo and Allies (AFDC-A) condemned the use of weapons in eastern DR Congo and reaffirmed its support for President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi on Friday 30 October in Kinshasa. Its national president, Claudine Ndusi M’Kembe, presented this position at a meeting with André Mbata, permanent secretary of the Sacred Union of the Nation, according to Beto.

AFDC-A representatives called for democratic channels and social action to support the institutions. They also cited the pacification and development of the country among the national priorities. André Mbata welcomed their approach and said they supported Tshisekedi in the face of « Joseph Kabila’s adventures in the east of the country ».

The meeting comes amid tensions surrounding former president Joseph Kabila, after the announcement in Goma on 12 October that he had taken over the leadership of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN), presented as a politico-military movement. It is part of a sequence in which President Tshisekedi called for support for the fight against Kabila’s armed alliance on 28 October, and in which ten countries condemned the FRN’s violence on 30 October.
