Adolosi Gomes has been appointed chief executive officer of Angola Capital Partners (ACP), an Angolan private equity firm created by Banco Angolano de Investimentos (BAI) and Norwegian development finance institution Norfund, reports Mercado. He succeeds Tiago Laranjeiro, who remains a board member to support the transition.
ACP has mobilised more than 85 million dollars to finance Angolan small and medium-sized enterprises. The company launched the Fundo de Investimento Privado Angola (FIPA), whose first closing, in March 2010, raised 28 million dollars from five investors: Norfund, BAI, the European Investment Bank, Banco Privado Atlântico and Danish institution IFU.
FIPA subsequently reached 39 million dollars after Spain’s MAEC agency joined in 2011. The project originated in a feasibility study conducted by Norfund in 2001, which identified the lack of long-term capital as a major obstacle to the development of private companies in Angola, according to Mercado.
