Kaffrine mayor Abdoulaye Seydou Sow accused Pastef of relying on an office responsible for disinformation at a press conference held by the Kiiray party. The politician thus attacked the ruling party’s communication methods, Senenews reports.

Kaffrine mayor Abdoulaye Seydou Sow accused Pastef, Senegal’s ruling party, of pursuing a disinformation strategy on public management, the budget and sanitation infrastructure. He made the remarks at a press conference held by the Kiiray party, Senenews reports, saying he had proof that “there is an office in charge of disinformation”.

Sow also criticised the use of official positions for partisan purposes, notably in public statements by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. He said officials should not use the resources and authority of their positions to defend the interests of their political party.

The accusations come amid debate over public management and the budget. Pastef recently proposed five parliamentary inquiries into these issues, while Senegal is planning a 340 billion CFA franc fall in revenue.
