Turkish league: Osimhen lets Leão take penalty

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen let teammate Rafael Leão take Galatasaray’s second penalty against Konyaspor, allowing the Portuguese player to score his first goal for the club. Leão praised the gesture and the team’s collective spirit after the 4-0 win, according to Galatasaray’s YouTube channel.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen let his Galatasaray teammate Rafael Leão take the club’s second penalty in Friday’s 4-0 Turkish league victory over Konyaspor. The Portuguese player, who joined from AC Milan this summer, converted the attempt in the 55th minute to score his first goal for the Turkish champions, Punch reports.

Osimhen had opened the scoring in the 12th minute and could have scored twice. However, he handed the ball to Rafael Leão, who had told him he wanted to end his wait. Leão praised the gesture, describing it as a reflection of the understanding within the squad, in a statement published on Galatasaray’s YouTube channel.

Victor Osimhen continues a run of important performances for Galatasaray. He had scored twice in the 2-1 derby victory over Fenerbahçe earlier in the week, according to Punch.
