Thames Valley Police announced on Wednesday 4 November the arrest of three men following the death of 26-year-old English footballer Ezekiel Williams and the opening of a murder investigation, according to La Nouvelle Tribune. Two suspects, aged 21 and 28, are being held on suspicion of murder, while a third man, aged 30, is suspected of helping the perpetrator of an offence. All three live in Luton.
Ezekiel Williams was seriously injured in an alleged assault on Midsummer Boulevard in Milton Keynes in the early hours of Sunday 1 November, before dying in hospital the following day. The Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation and has appealed for witnesses. Inspector Rob Underhill said police did not believe there was any wider risk to the local population.
The midfielder joined Isthmian League South Central club Hendon FC in September after spells with Kettering Town, FC Romania and Marlow. The club postponed its London Senior Cup match against Woodford Town, scheduled for Wednesday, after announcing his death on Tuesday 3 November, La Nouvelle Tribune reports.
