Somalia’s intelligence agency, the NISA, arrested Xasan Nuur Muuse in Mogadishu, identifying him as an Al-Shabaab member suspected of preparing an attack in the KPP neighbourhood. According to an NISA statement reported by Caasimada Online, the suspect was carrying a grenade and was arrested after trying to flee.

The NISA, Somalia’s intelligence and national security agency, has arrested Xasan Nuur Muuse, alias Makane and Cali Sabti, in Mogadishu. He was presented as an Al-Shabaab member who was preparing an attack in the KPP neighbourhood, in Hodan district. The arrest was carried out by the NISA and Somali police, according to an NISA statement reported by Caasimada Online.

The suspect was carrying a grenade and attempted to flee when he was arrested. Security forces said they subdued him after he threw the explosive device, without specifying whether it had been used, Caasimada Online reports.

The NISA announced that operations aimed at preventing attacks and killings attributed to Al-Shabaab would continue. It presented the arrest as proof of the security forces’ vigilance and their determination to prevent group members from blending into the population.

The operation comes after the arrest, on 25 October, of another suspect accused of attacking a security checkpoint in Mogadishu with a grenade. Somalia’s NISA arrests suspect after grenade attack in Mogadishu
