Somalia’s intelligence service has arrested Cabdisalaan Yacquub Nuur, suspected of throwing a grenade at a checkpoint in Wadajir, Mogadishu, injuring three civilians and a security officer. NISA is also examining his alleged role in at least ten bomb attacks that injured 12 people, according to Somalia’s intelligence agency.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Somalia’s intelligence and security service, has arrested Cabdisalaan Yacquub Nuur, known as Cabdisamad, after a grenade attack on a checkpoint in Wadajir, Mogadishu. The attack, which took place after the maghrib prayer, injured three civilians and a soldier, according to NISA.
The agency says it found surveillance-camera footage used in the investigation. It suspects the detainee of taking part in a network organising attacks, identifying security sites in the capital and helping transport grenades.
NISA is also examining his possible role in at least ten grenade attacks carried out in several districts of Mogadishu. The attacks allegedly injured 12 civilians and members of the security forces, according to the Somali service. The agency says it is continuing its operations against suspected members of Al-Shabaab and organised networks responsible for attacks in the country.
