The Somali Future Council contests the arrangements for the national dialogue proposed by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, scheduled in Mogadishu from 14 to 18 November 2026. Its secretary, Mohamed Aden Jimale, says the group received no official invitation and favours talks already under way with the government, according to Caasimada Online.
The Somali Future Council contests the national dialogue called by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Mogadishu from 14 to 18 November 2026. Its secretary, Maxamed Aadan Jimcaale, known as Koofi, says the Council has received no official invitation and only saw the announcement on social media and in the media, reports Caasimada Online.
Koofi believes the initiative could disrupt discussions already under way between the government and opposition, with international mediation. He says these exchanges had brought positions closer on several issues and were due to continue in November.
The Council will consult the parties concerned before deciding whether to take part. Opposition groups have not yet agreed on a joint response to the president’s call, according to Caasimada Online.
The dialogue was called following the Somali president’s call for political talks.
