The Senegalese government plans to mobilise 105 billion CFA francs and settle 44 billion in arrears to secure the 2026-2027 groundnut campaign. SONACOS financing must be finalised before collection begins at the end of November, according to Lesoleil.

The Senegalese government has mobilised 105 billion CFA francs to finance the 2026-2027 groundnut campaign and secure purchases from producers. The decision was taken at an interministerial council meeting held on 22 October 2026, according to the Senegalese government as reported by Le Soleil.

SONACOS, the state-owned company responsible for collecting and processing groundnuts, must finalise its financing plan before collection begins, scheduled for the end of November. It must also have starting cash flow of 1 billion CFA francs per day during the first 30 days of the campaign.

The plan provides for the settlement of 44 billion CFA francs in arrears owed to input suppliers. It also includes partial guarantees from FONGIP, Senegal’s public fund for guaranteeing priority investments, for collection loans, as well as the use of warehouse receipts and third-party custody.

During the previous campaign, SONACOS collected 219,171 tonnes of groundnuts and injected 73.43 billion CFA francs into rural areas. This new programme follows the measures to regulate groundnut collection announced on 22 October and the plan to settle 44 billion CFA francs in agricultural arrears published the same day.
