Royal Air Maroc and the Senegalese religious city of Touba have renewed their agreement to facilitate travel for members of the Mouride community and support major religious events, including the Grand Magal. The agreement was signed in Touba last Thursday in the presence of company officials and community representatives, according to Aujourd’hui le Maroc.
Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco’s national airline, and the Senegalese city of Touba renewed their agreement on Thursday to facilitate travel for the Mouride community and support the organisation of major religious events, particularly the Grand Magal. The signing took place in Touba, according to Aujourd’hui le Maroc.
Touba’s mayor, Abdou Lahad Kâ, and RAM’s director of commercial operations, Ilham Kazzini, attended the ceremony. Also present were the airline’s commercial director for Africa, Noura Daoudi, its regional director in Senegal, Mounim Elkababi, and members of the family of the general khalife of the Mourides.
Serigne Khadim Mbacké, nephew of the general khalife, said that he welcomed the renewal. He highlighted Touba’s intention to strengthen relations between Senegal and Morocco, which are linked by spiritual and economic exchanges. The agreement is specifically aimed at travel by followers living abroad for the city’s main religious events.
The partnership has been renewed following the 2026 Magal, during which 16,000 animals were slaughtered in Touba, according to a report published on 21 October.
