Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei says Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan are taking a firmer stance against Israel than some of Tehran’s traditional partners. He reports remarks attributed to the Saudi defence minister about Israel’s ambitions in the region, according to the Zambian Observer.
Iranian general Mohsen Rezaei says Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan take a more hostile position towards Israel than several of Tehran’s traditional partners. He recounted discussions at a meeting bringing together Iran and members of the Mecca Alliance, according to the Zambian Observer.
Rezaei said Saudi Defence Minister Khaled bin Salman viewed Israel’s regional ambitions as a threat that could successively target several countries. He also referred to the concerns of Ibrahim Kalin, head of Türkiye’s intelligence services, and Pakistan’s concerns over the strategic rapprochement between India and Israel. These remarks are Rezaei’s account and do not represent a common position officially adopted by the three countries.
The statement comes after Iran said on 30 October that it was ready to retaliate against any US or Israeli attack. Tehran then referred on 31 October to a change in Washington’s tone in negotiations, in its statements about a possible retaliation.
