Israel has reportedly completed the operational preparations needed for possible strikes against Iran, according to information carried by the Zambian Observer. The Israeli army, intelligence services and other military units are reportedly on heightened alert, while US and Israeli officials have reportedly discussed a short and intensive operation against Iranian infrastructure.
Nuclear facilities and power stations could be among the targets being considered. These preparations have not, however, been independently confirmed, and no official authorisation for a new attack has been announced.
The reports come after Iran said it was ready to retaliate against any US or Israeli attack and after Israel asked Washington to authorise strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure on 30 October. They also follow Mojtaba Khamenei’s threats of retaliation without geographical limits on 31 October.
