Michael Carrick heads into Manchester United's match against Aston Villa with his position still under threat, despite the 3-2 win against Roma in the Champions League. Another poor result could revive discussions about his future before the international break, reports The Namibian.
Manchester United host Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League with Michael Carrick under pressure, with the English manager's position potentially being questioned before the international break, reports AFP. The club could even be bottom of the league at kick-off if other results go against them.
The 3-2 victory against AS Roma on Tuesday in the Champions League ended a run of nine matches without a win, Manchester United's longest since the 1988-1989 season. Trailing 2-0 at half-time, the Manchester club won thanks to two late goals from Matheus Cunha at Old Trafford, according to AFP.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery had been named among possible candidates to succeed Carrick, but he is reportedly close to an extension with the Birmingham club, reports AFP. Manchester City will travel to Nottingham Forest, while Arsenal will host Hull in the other weekend fixtures.
The Manchester United situation follows the nine-match winless run reported on 2 November Manchester United without a win in nine matches and the victory against Roma published on 3 November Manchester United overturn Roma 3-2.
