The three-day process includes help with visas, accommodation and meals for workers living away from home, according to human resources director Pedro Maia.

The Portuguese construction group Cândido José Rodrigues wants to recruit between 50 and 100 workers in São Tomé and Príncipe for positions ranging from technical supervision to bricklaying. The recruitment campaign, organised over three days at a hotel in the Santomean capital, is targeting surveyors, engineers, bricklayers, plumbers, heavy machinery operators and mechanics, among others, according to Telanon.

The company, which employs more than 3,000 people, is offering a minimum salary of 1,000 euros. It also plans to help candidates obtain their work visas, provide accommodation equipped with water and electricity, and cover the food costs of employees living away from their place of residence, Pedro Maia, its human resources director, told Telanon.

The recruitment is part of a professional migration project funded by the European Union. It comes after the announcement of the delivery of fuel to São Tomé and Príncipe, as young people from the archipelago seek training and employment opportunities abroad.
