Patriotic Alliance favours FF+ and ActionSA for coalitions

South Africa's Patriotic Alliance favours the Freedom Front Plus, ActionSA and the ANC as coalition partners after the municipal elections. Its president, Gayton McKenzie, said the party was less keen on the DA, while acknowledging that cooperation with all parties could be possible during municipal negotiations, according to SABC News.

South Africa's Patriotic Alliance (PA) prefers the Freedom Front Plus, ActionSA and the African National Congress (ANC) as partners for municipal coalitions. Its president, Gayton McKenzie, said the party was less keen on an alliance with the Democratic Alliance (DA), while acknowledging that negotiations could lead to working with it, according to SABC News.

McKenzie cited the 'truthfulness' he attributed to the Freedom Front Plus and ActionSA to explain their preference, and also described the ANC as a 'very good coalition partner'. He said the PA remained willing to talk to all parties as negotiations on municipal coalitions got under way.

These discussions follow South Africa's municipal elections, after which the ANC was deprived of a majority in all eight metropolitan municipalities, according to results reported on 5 November. ANC loses majority in all eight metropolitan municipalities and ActionSA claims 38 ANC wards in Gauteng.
