Job Amupanda, leader of the Affirmative Repositioning movement, claims a company linked to Namibian musician Lazarus «Gazza» Shiimi may have acquired three military vehicles for about 50 million Namibian dollars. He is seeking explanations for the purchase and says the army leadership may not have been informed.

The leader of the Namibian political movement Affirmative Repositioning, Job Amupanda, has accused Straight Group of buying three combat military vehicles for about 50 million Namibian dollars, or nearly 18 million per vehicle. He made the allegation at a press conference held on 5 November, according to the Windhoek Observer.

Job Amupanda claims that August 26 Holdings and its associates were linked to the acquisition. Straight Group is itself reportedly linked to Namibian musician Lazarus «Gazza» Shiimi, according to the newspaper. The vehicles were allegedly bought in Uganda and then driven to Namibia via Angola.

The politician also claims that Namibia’s military leadership was not informed of the operation and that the vehicles are currently being concealed by August 26 Holdings. He questions the intentions behind the purchase and its possible consequences for the country’s security.
