The plan includes solar pumping and hydrogeological studies, while the Tindawene livestock market is 95% complete, according to Niger’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
Niger’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Colonel Bilaly Elhadj Gambobo, has recommended more drought-resistant crops to preserve agricultural activities in the Intaratt area, in the Tchirozerine department. He presented these guidelines during a field visit on 8 October, the Journal du Niger reports.
The area has 222 agricultural sites and 19,700 market gardens. In response to irregular rainfall, falling groundwater levels and a shortage of fodder in the north of the country, the government is linking this shift to an energy transition, the media outlet said.
