Ghana denies withholding oil fund data

Ghana’s Finance Ministry rejects accusations that it withheld data on the use of annual budget funds for the oil sector. It says it sent the Public Interest and Accountability Committee information on oil revenues and their distribution, The Ghana Report reports.

Ghana’s Ministry of Finance has rejected accusations that it withheld information on the use of the Annual Budget Funding Amount (ABFA), the share of oil revenues intended to finance the budget. It says it provided the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), the committee responsible for monitoring the management of oil revenues, with data on revenue collected, its distribution and the financing mechanisms concerned, The Ghana Report reports.

The ministry was responding to criticism over PIAC’s access to data on the use of oil funds. The committee publishes assessments on the management of revenues from oil and gas in Ghana.
