Real Madrid manager José Mourinho believes his team is still a work in progress before the Clásico against FC Barcelona, with players adapting to his methods. He said the squad had only worked together for a few months and that the Liga match alone would not determine their title prospects, according to Real Madrid’s official website.

José Mourinho, the Portuguese manager of Real Madrid, believes his team is still a work in progress ahead of Sunday’s Liga Clásico against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou. “Madrid with Mourinho wins titles,” he nevertheless said confidently, according to a report published on Saturday by Real Madrid’s official website.

Mourinho explained that his squad had only been working together for about a month and a half or two months, excluding the summer training period and time spent with national teams. He said it was unfair to compare Real Madrid with a team that had been together for two or three years and added that the clubs’ recent results would have little influence on a Clásico.

The comments come as Mourinho has just reunited with the Clásico with Real Madrid. The match will be played after FC Barcelona’s defeat by Paris Saint-Germain and a series of victories for Madrid, two factors the manager considers of little significance for this fixture.
