Russia and Mali have signed a transport cooperation roadmap for 2026-2030 to develop corridors connecting the landlocked country to ports in other African states. The agreement was signed in Moscow by Russian Transport Minister Dmitry Yadrov and Mali’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Madina Sissoko Dembélé, according to Russia’s Transport Ministry and Sputnik Africa.

The document provides for Russian companies to take part in building roads, railways and logistics infrastructure, as well as developing river transport and modernising airports. It also includes training for Malian specialists: engineers, technicians and managers could undertake placements at Russian institutions, while Malian universities are already taking part in the Russian-African Network of Transport Universities.

The roadmap follows a cooperation memorandum concluded in the spring during discussions linked to KazanForum, the Russia-Islamic World forum. Dmitry Yadrov described Mali as an important Russian partner and a key player in the emerging corridor between Russia and West Africa, according to Sputnik Africa.

The signing follows the strengthening of the partnership between Goïta and Putin, announced in Moscow on 31 October. It also follows the Russia-Africa summit, which ended on 30 October.
