Ghanaian President John Mahama wants to revive energy cooperation with Russia, particularly in renewable energy and nuclear power. He raised these possibilities ahead of a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled for Friday in Moscow on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit, MyJoyOnline reports.
Mahama said Ghana was considering solar and nuclear energy to diversify its supply. He believes Russian technologies could support these projects and also wants to strengthen investment and economic relations between the two countries.
The meeting is due to take place during the summit, which John Mahama arrived at on 26 October. The Ghanaian president had announced that he would appeal to Vladimir Putin for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
