Madagascar’s Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) opened a contact centre on 23 October 2026 to provide information and support to taxpayers with their tax procedures, L’Express reports. Nearly 40 agents answer calls to explain legislation, clarify procedures and direct callers.
The service is intended to make tax information easier to access and bring the administration’s services closer to citizens, according to the DGI. It also aims to encourage tax compliance by making obligations and formalities easier to understand.
The initiative comes amid the launch on 10 October of Torohy, Madagascar’s tax-corruption-fighting system.
