Liberia moves Group C matches of the national sports tournament from Lofa to Grand Bassa after nearly eight containers of materials for the Voinjama pitch were delayed. Matches will begin on 29 November, while the opening will take place on 28 November in Paynesville, according to Senator Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus quoted by The Liberian Investigator.

Liberia's Ministry of Youth and Sports has withdrawn hosting of Group C of the 2026-2027 National County Sports Meet from Lofa County and designated Grand Bassa as the new host, after delays in the delivery of nearly eight containers of equipment needed to complete the Voinjama pitch, according to The Liberian Investigator. Group C is to bring together Lofa, Grand Bassa, Montserrado and Sinoe from 29 November.

Lofa Senator Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus, chairman of the county's Sports Steering Committee, said on Saturday on ELBC Super Sports that the materials, initially expected on 26 September, had been delayed several times and were ultimately not expected to arrive until 16 November. He attributed the delays to disruptions in international shipping and said local authorities had asked the contractor to complete the pitch in 11 months instead of the 24 months provided for in the contract.

The tournament's opening ceremony is scheduled for 28 November at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville. Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus's claims concerning a global crisis involving the United States and Iran could not be independently verified by The Liberian Investigator.
