Kairouan University has risen more than 30 places in the 2027 Times Higher Education ranking of Arab universities, reaching 176th place, according to its president Mohamed Ghandour. The institution exceeded 1,000 scientific publications over five years and joined THE’s overall world ranking in October, according to TAP.

Kairouan University has exceeded 1,000 scientific publications over the past five years, a result that its president Mohamed Ghandour links to the institution’s progress in the 2027 Times Higher Education ranking of Arab universities. He attributed this development to the efforts of teachers, researchers, administrative staff and students, in a statement to TAP on Friday.

The university has also updated the institutional affiliations of its teachers and researchers in their publications so that their work is properly included in its scientific output. It entered the overall Times Higher Education world ranking in October, at around 1,800th place, according to Mohamed Ghandour.

The Times Higher Education Arab ranking takes into account indicators linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, including teaching, research, renewable energy, environmental protection, cybersecurity and the socio-economic contribution of universities. Kairouan University intends to continue its efforts in teaching, research, innovation and international cooperation.
