Israel is reportedly considering a covert operation targeting senior Iranian military and security officials, using infiltration and surveillance methods that could lead to targeted assassinations, reports the New York Post.
The Iranian officials cited as possible targets include Ahmad Vahidi, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Taeb, a senior Basij forces official, Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and Ali Abdollahi, responsible for the command of the Iranian armed forces’ general staff.
The reported plan would draw on tactics previously used against Hezbollah. If implemented, it could increase tensions between Israel and Iran, following earlier assassinations of Iranian military and security officials.
The information comes as Israel reportedly completed preparations on 1 November to strike Iran again, according to an earlier report. On the same day, Israel said it was ready to launch an operation against Iran within hours.
