The IMF noted progress in public finance management, revenue mobilisation and Burkina Faso’s financial credibility after its sixth review of the economic programme. Its mission also reported improved security in the areas visited, according to its conclusions presented in Ouagadougou.

A mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) noted progress in public finance management, revenue mobilisation and Burkina Faso’s credibility on the financial market following the sixth review of the country’s economic and financial programme, completed on 4 November 2026. The delegation was led by Jaroslaw Wieczorek and presented its conclusions to Burkina Faso’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Aboubakar Nacanabo.

The evaluators notably praised the quality of budget planning and efforts to mobilise revenue. During its visits around the country, the mission also reported an improvement in the security situation in the areas visited, according to the IMF.

The review follows discussions launched on 27 October on solar and agricultural financing in Burkina Faso. It marks a further stage in the assessment of the economic and financial programme agreed between Ouagadougou and the international financial institution.
