WAPP Secretary General Abdoulaye Dia announced that the regional electricity market will allow stakeholders to sell and buy electricity transparently from 2027. He was speaking at the 21st session of the General Assembly of the West African Power Pool (WAPP/EEEOA), held in Conakry, according to Guinéenews.

WAPP has already interconnected the electricity grids of its 15 member countries and is now working on their synchronisation to enable integrated operation, Abdoulaye Dia said. Électricité de Guinée (EDG) Director General Gandho Barry, for his part, called on companies and institutions in the sub-region to strengthen information sharing, infrastructure maintenance and trust among their various stakeholders.
