Mercedes won the Formula 1 constructors' world championship thanks to George Russell and Kimi Antonelli finishing fourth and fifth at the Brazilian Grand Prix. British McLaren driver Lando Norris also won the race held on 8 November in São Paulo, reports L'essentiel.
British McLaren driver Lando Norris won the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix in São Paulo on Sunday ahead of Dutchman Max Verstappen and Frenchman Isack Hadjar, according to AFP. Norris led for 47 of the 71 laps of the Interlagos circuit after taking pole position on Saturday.
George Russell and Kimi Antonelli finished fourth and fifth for Mercedes. The German team now has a sufficient lead in the provisional standings to secure the constructors' title, ahead of Ferrari, with three Grands Prix remaining in Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Norris won his third Grand Prix of the year, after those in Hungary and the Netherlands.
The race was marked by tyre changes linked to showers, after qualifying was disrupted by rain. Max Verstappen, who started at the back of the grid after an engine-change penalty, finished second. Isack Hadjar secured his third podium of the season with Red Bull.
The race came a day after Lando Norris's pole position in São Paulo, achieved on Saturday 7 November.
