Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor says that 1,134 Palestinian child amputees in Gaza are unable to access treatment abroad. The organisation accuses Israel of restricting medical evacuations and warns that these children risk chronic pain, repeated injuries and mobility difficulties, according to Tribune Online.
The World Health Organisation says that 2,277 amputees between September 2024 and May 2026 were assessed for treatment, of whom 502 had received a prosthesis. Euro-Med, citing Humanity & Inclusion, also records only eight certified prosthetics and orthotics professionals in the Gaza Strip.
Restrictions on the entry of machinery and components are complicating the manufacture and maintenance of prostheses. Euro-Med is calling on the international community to pressure Israel to lift restrictions on medical evacuations, as healthcare infrastructure and equipment are lacking in Gaza. This situation prolongs the difficulties linked to Israeli restrictions on food and medical supplies, reported on 2 November.
