Kylian Mbappé wants to win the 2027 Ballon d’Or after finishing second in 2026 with 1,027 points, according to Thibaut Courtois. The Real Madrid goalkeeper made the statement after the club’s victory over AEK Athens, a match in which Mbappé scored, La Nouvelle Tribune reports.

Kylian Mbappé wants to win the 2027 Ballon d’Or after finishing second in the 2026 edition, his Real Madrid teammate Thibaut Courtois said on 4 November. The French striker has already resumed his race for goals, according to the Belgian goalkeeper, who was speaking on Canal+ after Real Madrid’s 3-2 Champions League victory over AEK Athens.

Mbappé scored Real Madrid’s equaliser to make it 2-2, before Federico Valverde secured victory for the Spanish club. Real have won all four of their Champions League matches, while Courtois cited the European competition and La Liga among the team’s collective objectives for the season.

With 1,027 points, Mbappé achieved his best ranking in nine Ballon d’Or appearances in London on 26 October. He was beaten by England’s Harry Kane, who won with 1,055 points, after never finishing higher than third, in 2023. This ambition comes after reactions to his second-place finish, including Lizarazu’s call for Mbappé to prioritise the team, published on 1 November.
