The governor of Nigeria’s Edo State recognises the interim committee of the Nigeria Labour Congress, ending a prolonged dispute with the union. The electricity union must now take steps to restore power, which has been cut off since Monday, according to interim Secretary-General Benson Upah.

The resolution comes after Nigerian trade unions extended their ultimatum for a nationwide strike by five days on 22 October, ahead of a mobilisation announced for 27 October. The NLC had also threatened a nationwide mobilisation.
