French banking group Crédit Mutuel Arkéa announced on Wednesday 4 November 2026 that it had fallen victim to a cyberattack that enabled fraudulent transactions. The loss could reach 118 million euros, according to Le Télégramme, while the bank said its customers’ accounts were not affected.

The attack reportedly lasted several days and the funds were allegedly transferred to accounts opened on cryptocurrency exchange platforms. Le Télégramme reported that the hackers may have gone through Fortuneo, the banking subsidiary wholly owned by Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, a lead that the group has yet to confirm.

Crédit Mutuel Arkéa said it mobilised its teams as soon as the incident was detected and temporarily suspended certain transactions to secure operations. The investigation into the method used and the exact amount of the loss is continuing, according to information reported by Le Télégramme and Les Échos.
