Mozambican airline COTUR and Solenta Aviation will launch three weekly flights between Maputo and Vilankulo from 5 November 2026. The route is intended to facilitate travel for tourists and professionals, notably for the Mozambique Tourism Summit, reports O País.

COTUR, a Mozambican tourism company, will launch three weekly flights between Maputo and Vilankulo in both directions on 5 November, in partnership with Solenta Aviation. The flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, according to a COTUR statement.

The inaugural flight is scheduled to coincide with the opening of the Mozambique Tourism Summit ’26. It will leave Maputo in the morning and return to the capital in the afternoon, allowing passengers to attend the opening session, where the Mozambican president is due to speak.

The route is intended to facilitate travel to Vilankulo, in Inhambane province, one of the main gateways to the Bazaruto Archipelago. COTUR believes it could also support accommodation providers, tour operators and local activity providers.

The launch comes after the creation, on 29 September, of a public company intended to buy aircraft, followed by the establishment, announced on 30 October, of an aviation framework between Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and Guinea-Bissau. These steps concern respectively the aircraft purchase project and the aviation framework with São Tomé and Príncipe and Guinea-Bissau.
