The Mozambican government plans to allocate 3,574.6 million meticais to rebuilding infrastructure, roads and bridges, as well as the future Parliamentary Citadel in Mocuba. Finance Minister Carla Louveira presented the allocation as part of the revision of the 2026 budget and economic plan, Opais reports.
The Mozambican government plans to allocate 3,574.6 million meticais in gas revenue to rebuilding infrastructure destroyed by bad weather and post-election protests, as well as rehabilitating roads and bridges. Finance Minister Carla Louveira presented the allocation during consideration of an ad hoc revision of the 2026 state budget, according to Opais.
The programme provides 1,174.6 million meticais for resilient reconstruction after the 2026 floods, 700 million for public administration infrastructure affected by post-election conflicts, 1,200 million for roads and bridges, and 500 million for the construction of the Parliamentary Citadel in Mocuba.
If the revision is approved, the state’s domestic resources will rise from 442.9 billion to 446.5 billion meticais, while public spending will increase from 520.6 billion to 524.2 billion. Investment spending will reach 104.4 billion meticais, compared with the 98.8 billion initially planned. Carla Louveira said the adjustment would be financed through additional domestic resources, without new public borrowing.
