Digital rights organisation Yiyo Buganda Yange is calling on the authorities to act against content creator Ibrahim Musana, CAJ News Agency reported.

The Buganda kingdom has asked the Ugandan government to intervene against Ibrahim Musana, a content creator known as Pressure 24/7, accused of insulting King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and the kingdom online, CAJ News Agency reported. Digital rights organisation Yiyo Buganda Yange has petitioned several officials, including Minister for Information and Communications Technology Justine Kasule Lumumba and Uganda Communications Commission executive director Nyombi Thembo.

The organisation is calling on the Commission to suspend and remove the accounts and channels used by Musana. It has also asked police to investigate alleged incitement, hate speech and public disorder. Its president, Munaawa Dan, says the online attacks are causing anger and psychological distress among the Baganda.

Buganda, a traditional monarchy situated around the northern shores of Lake Victoria, has about 14 million people, nearly 27% of Uganda’s population. Musana is also known for his fierce criticism of Ugandan political leaders, including President Yoweri Museveni and the Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
