Beninese coach Ghislain Patrick Agoli-Agbo believes his U15 team showed its potential despite a group-stage campaign below expectations at the 2026 FIFA U15 Festival in Azerbaijan. He attributes the young players’ difficulties to their lack of experience and mental maturity, according to an interview published by Matin Libre.

Benin approaches the round of 32 of the FIFA U15 Festival in Azerbaijan calmly, despite finishing third in their group. The national coach believes his players demonstrated their talent, even though the team had hoped for a better ranking, he told Matin Libre.

The Beninese coach believes Italy was the only team clearly superior in terms of play, but says a lack of mental maturity hindered his players against the other opponents. He also highlights the difficulty of a tournament bringing together the best U15 teams and says several members of the squad are suffering from malaria as the knockout matches approach, according to Matin Libre.
