Peoples Redemption Party chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has again accused Nigerian President Bola Tinubu of worsening economic hardship and insecurity. Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he criticised the reforms and questioned the progress claimed by the government, the Daily Post reports.
Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Nigeria, has accused President Bola Tinubu of worsening insecurity and economic hardship. He made the criticism on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, ahead of the 2027 general election, the Daily Post reports.
Baba-Ahmed said the government’s economic reforms had imposed hardship on residents without taking sufficient account of their consequences. He also condemned the kidnappings and banditry preventing children from attending school in some communities, as well as rising transport costs. He disputes the relevance of the government’s economic statistics in reflecting daily living conditions.
The PRP leader called on Tinubu to meet Nigerians and explain the effects of his policies. He said the president would have to convince voters that a second four-year term would improve their living conditions. Baba-Ahmed had already accused the government of neglecting northern Nigeria on 19 October, after denouncing the country’s handling of affairs as leading to a dead end on 16 October (his criticism of the north).
