Kano Governor Abba Yusuf praised Nigerian President Bola Tinubu's infrastructure investments at the inauguration of section III of the highway linking Abuja, Kaduna, Zaria and Kano. Yusuf said the route should facilitate trade, freight transport and agricultural producers' access to markets in northern Nigeria.

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf inaugurated section III of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano highway on Wednesday on behalf of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian daily Punch reported. He praised the federal government's prioritisation of major infrastructure projects in northern Nigeria.

Abba Yusuf highlighted the importance of the Kano-Zaria corridor in connecting communities and facilitating the movement of goods and services. Kano, a major commercial and industrial centre, serves several states in the north of the country.

The governor said improved road links could support agricultural production, widen access to markets and create opportunities for traders, transporters and businesses. He called on the federal government and states to continue working together on infrastructure.

The inauguration comes as President Bola Tinubu defends the removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria, a measure discussed in an article published on 21 October.
