Nigeria’s Works Minister David Umahi believes the South-East will vote more for Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. He attributes the change to federal infrastructure investment and appointments granted to the region, in an interview broadcast by ARISE News and reported by Punch.

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, believes that the South-East of Nigeria will vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, after massively supporting Peter Obi in 2023. He attributes this change to federal investment in infrastructure and the appointment of officials from the region, in an interview broadcast on Friday by ARISE News and reported by Punch.

David Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi State, says that serving and former governors, traditional leaders and other influential figures in the South-East are drawing closer to Bola Tinubu. He believes voters will be reluctant to give up the benefits of federal road projects in favour of another political choice.

This prediction came on the day David Umahi also challenged the idea that Peter Obi is the best candidate from Nigeria’s South-East, in an interview reported by Punch on Peter Obi. It forms part of preparations for the 2027 presidential election, while Bola Tinubu could avoid some rallies, according to information published on 14 October.
